Hey mate
I had a problem on my 2000 classic with the signal getting messed up by mobile mast.
The problem with the sigma is that the alarm ecu is encased in a metal box with tamper proof screws. You don't have to take the whole dash off, but remove the steering column and surrounding dash underneath. Very tricky to get too but its doable.
The AA are a good bet - they did mine in about 1hr if your a member it would help. If not i'd recommend going to a professional. Its not the easiest DIY job unless you have a multi meter and know the immobiliser circuits.
