Default Type R + £3000, what would you do?

Should have a few extra quid in the pay packet this month after working a crappy weekend shift, So how is it best spent? Should have £3000 at least to spend and I am not after styling mods.

Cars a 96 Type R, almost standard with just a de-cat center section and Ninja rear box.

Got my eye on a 356mm brake kit in the group buys but thought I ask how to get the most bang for my buck

Depends if you are happy with the power or not mate. If it was me, id get a walbro fuel pump, set of injectors, some headers, front mount and good ecu and a good remap, should still have some left if you wanted to do ya brakes.

It depends if it a V2 or 3 and WRX or STI. Whiteline anti-roll bars and BC coilovers are worth a look to sort the handling.

Im yet to see a V2 Type-R. If its a Type-R it must be a V3+: itll be a MY97 manufactured in 1996.

Rent boy

Only kidding mate.

As above it really depends if you are happy with the power. If you are then sort the handling and the brakes and then move on to the power later.

VF35 second hand £300
550cc injectors second hand £250
Labour for above £250
Hybrid FMIC £700 fitted?
SIMTEK ECU £900 fitted and mapped
Better brake pads £200

£2600

I think the torque wants to keep below 330lbft to save the gearbox though.

more power would be good....

My thoughts were, Front De-cat pipe
Front mount intercooler (good deals in the group buys)
Simtek (with anti-lag)
356mm K-Sport kit (again from group buys)

Thanks for the help those who have.... keep it coming

If it is a V3 STI the standard engine will be fine, use the £1500 for a decent ECU

Save the money for a forged rebuild when it goes wrong.

Just get a secondhand Power FC & Commander for £350 get it mapped for £300 and stick a decat downpipe on there and you'll see approx 320BHP I would of thought and the TMIC should be fine with that.

£500 fitted would be closer the mark depending on where you buy it from

https://www.scoobynet.com/trader-ann...ople-only.html

I would spend some of the budget on brakes and suspension too.
