Nearly wrote it off!
I was very lucky coming home tonight after work coming off the motorway a bit too quickly coming into a 3 lane rounder bout luckily with no one out my back end started to drift a touch i let of the power and corrected it the opposite way-- big mistake! snapped the opposite way and was completely sideways with steering on full lock remaining calm i tried to hold it steady and it snapped back the other way and then went backwards coming to a stop!
Big lesson in the wet at a bout 40mph on a wide rounderbout wont be doing that again.Luckily not a mark on the car!

Sounds like you were lucky mate, good thing is that you have realised it was a close call and its scared you a bit. Got to be so careful in this wet weather, yes our cars handle good but with the changeing road conditions its still very easy to loose it in the wet.

IMHO Subarus have high traction/grip levels, not great handling.... when the grip goes you find out how poor they are. The secret is to lift of the throttle slowly and keep the wheel pointing almost straight ahead, this is so that the car doesn't lurch into a tank-slapper when the grip returns.
Do a trackday and learn how your car behaves, I leant more in two sessions than in seven years on the "streets"...
Well done for not damaging it !
dunx
P.S. Mine was a double sideways tank-slapper on a lake of diesel, luckily the kerbs were chamfered at 45 degrees and I didn't hit anything, but my front bumper was inches from the hedge, LOL

when you let off the gas, all the weight of the car got transferred to the front, do what dunx said, ease off the throttle and do a driver training course.
hindsight is a wonderfull thing, but say a prayer tonight and thank your ecu for not making you spin out

Obviously you know what you should/shouldn't have done in the first place.
But those tyres are not going to help much either.
I assume they were warm though
I tried toyo once many years ago through peoples comments on here about how good they are - I thought they were completly awfull tyres infact so much so I ended up taking them off.
Best thing you can do is either find a big empty space and go see how the car behaves in safety or else some form of advanced driver training.

Mixing 2 types of tyres isnt recommended anyway due to the different levels of wet/dry grip they give, would suggest changing them sooner rather than later to top you getting in a spin (or worse!)

I'm sorry but I can't see the logic in buying such a powerful car and not putting adequate tyres on it.
I've had my WRX for 10 months and had to change the front tyres. I opted to change all four tyres even though the rears still had a fair amount of tread. I stuck with the tyres on the car, Goodyear Eagle F1's, with the exception of upgrading to the Asymetric version.
Not such a great metaphor but, if you had a young child with developing feet would you put cheap shoes on their fragile feet?

not many young children pay to get married so when your short changing tyres with more than adequate tread isnt a priority. obviously will be now after that never had a problem before with tyres letting go.
