Ive just bought an01 WRX in the service book it says you are to send a slip away when you buy the car to say its owner has been changed, but because i am technically the 2nd owner the person before me has sent this slip off.How can i let them know i am the new owner i dont know where to write to.Also if i get my car serviced at a VAT registered garage and not a subaru dealer will this effect my warranty.Hope someone knows the score coz i dont.

Had the same problem - so I just filled in what I could and sent it off. I sent it to Vilvoorde.
As for getting it serviced, legally you can get it done anywhere in the first year provided the parts are of comparable quality.
You'll have the extended warranty for years 2 and 3, this will need the car to be serviced at Subaru agent. NO OPTION.
I've decided to stick with offical dealers, that way there's less scope to argue.
BTW don't forget you don't get any RAC type cover with an import. You need to sort that for yourself

Send your chassis number (vin) with your details to:
Subaru (UK) Ltd, Ryder Street, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B70 0EJ, for cross border warrenty purposes. The warrenty in force is that provided by the selling distributor, not the warrenty that Subaru (UK) applies to it`s own vehicles You have to seek their authorisation for any warrenty repairs. Hope this helps
