Default Oily Intercooler Y Pipe

Just recieved an intercooler Y Pipe I purchased of EBay, and its got alot of oil on the inside of it. Ive given it a little clean up to get the worst of it out, does it matter if theres a little still left inside it, or would I be better off making sure this is as clean as possible prior to installing it.

As always thanks for helping.

Good way off getting it clean ( i do it this way anyway)

Get a bucket fill it with warm water and put a dishwasher tablet in it give it a stir and leave part in over night.

Id get it as clean as possible mate.

Wipe it out with petrol as petrol is ok if it goes in an engine.

I wonder if it will be ok going through a parts wash. My mate has one at work. One of the sinks with a hose piping solvent through it, maybe that would get the rest of it out.

What's fairly liquid? Detergent for oriental people?

H20 - you can use anything that's convenient to clean it. Petrol, brake cleaner, detergent (oriental or otherwise), you won't damage it.

Although unless you have a catch can it'll slowly start to fill up again when you fit it. Main reason for cleaning is to stop it popping off the turbo outlet under pressure.

A Japanese cleaning agent would seem appropriate

I've used Fairy Liquid and very hot water, and also muc off degreaser spray and a pressure washer. I have some petrol, but i think i'll let my mate give it a try with his parts washer.

Don't bother going mad with the cleaning, it's likely only going to get more oil on it once you've installed it - no big deal.

Yes, I guess its only gonna get caked up , but this was really filthy when it arrived, was dripping with oil. Got most of it out , just want it as clean as I can possibly get it.

Managed to get it spotless, my m8 had no luck with his parts washer, didnt seem to want to budge the muck. However when he tried carb cleaner all the grime started to shift.
