Default NEWBIE....Alfa 2 Subaru

Hi everyone,
Just joined as I now have brought my first Subaru 05 wrx, after many years of owning Alfa`s the last two being the flagship 147 GTA and GT 3.2 V6 models.
It was not a hard decision in the end as the amount of times my last Alfa was in the dealers with problem after problem it was time for something reliable, quick, good looking and practice as I have 3 kids.
First impresions the Impreza`s fast around town and you get noticed by other scooby owners, sounds nice and you can do loads to them.
The only thing wrong is the road noise, I know that its expected from a WRX as its built for lightness as its a ralley car, but would different tyres make a difference? If not I`m not really that bothered.
Great forum by the way, I was a member of the Alfa forum and learnt so much from that, I hope this one is as good.
Kev.

Welcome Kev, I too went from Alfa to Subaru, couldnt stand the front wheel drive lack of traction. The cabin is nowhere near as nice but the reward from driving is well worth it, hope you enjoy your new car.

Sorry cant help with the road noise but as you say tyres make a massive difference.

Hi mate and welcome
I do like Alfa's, they do make sexy looking cars but never been brave enough to buy one
Regarding the tyre noise Subaru's do suffer from this check your preasure maybe there down a little. Falkan do good tyres to combat this I had a set on my Honda Accord Type R which where quite good have a look at Camskill web site.

welcome mate ... noise as you prob know can be limited by silly things such as tyre choice but scoobys are alot less refined ...but personally i like this ... a fun car to me is not like a pair of slippers more like running shoes

Thanks for the welcome everyone. S70rjw that is one thing I miss is the roar off the V6 but the destintive noise of the flat 4 is great, you just know it a scooby without looking.

lol......thats nothing my06 ppp silver, the last straw with me was the diff blowing up and having to fork out almost 2k for replacing it with an upgraded LSD and crown and pinion was f@@ked so that was replaced. Geogous cars and they drive lovely but they cost and are always in the garage going wrong. Subaru`s are built out of better stuff and are trailed and tested machines.

I had two Alfa Sud Sprints - wonderful cars. I must be a bit of a flat-four head.
