Default Air filter bonnet scoop

Hi, my classic turbo 2000 has a scoop above the air filter - Impreza Classic (1994-2000) : Mini Scoop for Classic style Impreza (1994-2000)

Are these ok? I'm worried about the K&N filter getting soaked in the rain when driving on motorway etc. Also, was told today that they cause heat to gather near the scoop frying the filter?

It came on the car when i got it, but not sure whether to keep it?

change it back to standard as you've pointed out it will let water in and when you come to a standstill the heat will try to escape anyway it can so you will get a hotspot where the IK is which is not good.

I've got one of these fitted to mine, was like that when I got it - the blanking plate underneath is still in place, and so far I haven't had any issues with water ingress, so if your blanking plate is still there it should be okay. I agree with myblackwrx above tho, and I'll be changing mine back to standard eventually
