Default why does it always happen

Guy i sold my P1 about 2 months ago, to a chap in the netherlands came picked it up took it away and the same day i picked up a MK1 T25. was grinning ear to ear. 2 motnhs down the line and boy do i miss the P1 what a bloody cracking car, the feel, looks, sound were all spot on. dont get me wrong the t25 is something else just it seems to lack something, might even just be the sound which makes it feel like i am in a evo or m3 or something but it just does not seem to do it for me. i have driven 3 newage cars before and always felt they were missing something and always wanted a t25 and thought that it would be ok as i had got a car i always wanted but i am missing the classic feel that people talk about the raw'ness the sound the drving experiance. grrrrrrr why am i never happy, any way rant over

Completely different car to a classic. By far the better driving 'experience' regardless of which is better in a game of top trumps.

At the time I believe I voted for you to mod your P1.

well remembered mate, i could not justify the 10k price tag to fit the 2.5 and all the supporting mods, mapping etc so i thought it woulod be best to sell up and buy a newer car with the 6 speed and 2.5 fitted giving a better base car with ower millage etc. the t25 is a cracking car just it lacks something that i can not put my hand on.

even been thinking of taking the twin scroll setup off and going for a 321t and a few bits to see if it brings that something back. would keep the twin scroll set up so when i caome to sell i can put it back to t25 spec so i dont detract from what it is (if that makes sense) just not sure if it will be a waste of time and money as it may still be missing that classic feel

well bit of both i guess, i have no kids but my other half dont drive and i have a 6 year old german shepard so it gets me to work, to and from shops, daily use etc and then when i am on my own its a toy plus i put the p1 on the track a few times so i hope to do the same with this next year when the weather gets a bit better but i would like to get it in the work shop for a little tinkering, oil cooler, baffled sump, prob some uporated head studs depending n how far i want to take it i might have to uprate the conrods to. then i can use one of litchfields new turbos

Uprate some more of the sloppy OEM parts like Engine mounts and Pitch Stops, introduce diff lock bolts, diff lock braces etc etc... remove weight, seats, boot lining etc not an all out strip but enough to reintroduce some of the classic's character vibrations and noises, reintroduce whats going on outside inside.

i was thinking of buying a a older cheaper classic like a ver3 type r, but then thought whats the point in having both, at that point might as well sell up and buy a reliable new run a round and then hod out for the right classic to turn up with a 2.5 and 6 speed fitted and then finish it off.

That is also true

I have a Hawkeye SpecD on my drive, done 286 miles this year Still doesnt get me in the mood like my V2 Sti Wagon. Best situation is to have a classic as a toy and a sensible car for when it matters IMHO

LOL Loosen a few bolts on the interior, install mice under the dash, for the classic classic "squeaky dash" feeling..........Oh and a woodpecker or two for that nice dash rattle..........

^ You know it makes sense

The vibrating interior light would be the cherry on the top.

I was thinking of getting a type r if I sold my Prodrive STI (and save a few quid) but I would be constantly worrying about the reliability gearbox and engine.
I have a family but we rarely use the scoob anyway but I do prefer the newage over my V3 STI, the Classic did feel more raw and quicker (think it just had more lag and the low ratios) but the 6 speed box if fantastic on a long run and its much comfier to drive.
Mine does have a full 3" decat so its much noisier than the classic was so maybe thats why I prefer it

Get the sound sorted out then you may like it

I know what you mean. I moved from an STi IV to the T25, and the feeling of raw accelleration just isn't there. However, when you glance at the speedo you are just going faster, but without feeling like it. The Blob is so much more refined than the classic, it's just a different beast.
I do miss the sound of the old car too, but when you put your foot down in the T25 it sounds great too
