Default Looking for a specialist or knowledgable type, Bristol/Taunton area

As title. I bought a uk turbo wagon yesterday. It started off lovely and quiet and drove excellently.
After 6 hours of on off use (I was going for drives for the sake of it lol) it started knocking.
I initially thought it was clutch/gearbox as it is only knocking when in drive and not when revved up freely but obviously with the engine not under load its hard to tell.

I have a good mechanic friend that will do work for me but has no experience with Scoobs at all. If there's someone local who could take a look for me for a reasonable fee and give an opinion that would be brilliant.

how would you describe the sound?

does it do it in neutral too or only in gear?

if it does it in neutral, does it do it with the clutch pushed in or not?

if it only does it in gear, does it do it in every gear, if not which ones?

does it get quicker as you accelerate - if so is the speed related to engine speed or road speed?

It is a grumbly, slightly knocky, with a quiet underlying metallicy noise.
It only happens when driven no signs of it all when revved not under load. Unsure about the clutch thing will need to double check but memory says it still makes noise clutch in. On/off throttle and slightly changes pitch with revs

Ive left the car at work for today but when I can pick it up again Ill make note better and come back to you.

if you can get a recording of the sound, starting from neutral with the clutch in, then out, then running up through the gears that might be helpful, though it might be hard to hear the actual sound on the recording. Worth a go though.

I had a problem with the gearbox on my old legacy - it started in 1st gear but gradually got worse and extended to 2nd, 3rd etc. It was like a steady knocking sound that would get faster with engine speed - If I remember correctly it stopped when the clutch was pushed in (gradually, once the lay shaft stopped spinning). I changed the gearbox in the end for a known good one, shortly before writing it all off through a hedge.

Mine is pretty much the same description as that only it developed on all gears pretty much together.
Had someone with knowledge look at it today. Its definitely transmission not engine (which is a small positive imo). Probably going to take it out and get a local transmission specialist to price a repair before hunting for second hand boxes.

Saying that I might just sell it on as a going concern and put it down to experience.
