Default GB270 / RB320 question

Guys

I own a standard GB270 and out of curiosity wondering what the differences are re the engine to allow the 50hp deficit when compared to the RB320

Is it a simple remap job or does the RB have many engine differences to allow that figure to be produced (suspect so!)

And what power can you expect from the GB270 with a simple remap?

Many thanks in advance

matt

Hi. The main difference is the turbo, the GB270 has a TD04 and the RB320 has a bigger VF43. A remap with your stock turbo won't produce much more power, maybe 280bhp. You would be best to swop the turbo and then remap with a few other mods like exhaust (Decat) and air filter could get you 330bhp+.

Stuart.

Without contradicting Stuart above: you may may be able to achieve 320bhp (or certainly close) with an Andy Forrest TD04 hybrid. This would be easiest, but whether it makes financial sense I cant say.

thanks for the info chaps

Its something i may consider in the future, but i must admit to being a bit of a 'factory standard' freak with everything as subaru intended. Plus i have heard that the pistons on the 2.5 are a weak spot?

Its interesting to find out about the differences though and thanks again for the info

There are a huge ammount of differences over the GB270 and RB320.

The GB270's are the last of the hawkeye WRX's with some subaru performance parts added and some nice badges.

The RB320's are an STI that has been upgraded by Prodrive.

Main differenced would be the entire suspension set-up (114.5PCD & wider track) and STI / Prodrive tweaked engine.

Hope this helps.

As said above,

GB270 is a WRX with PPP

RB320 is a STi with PPP

I never knew they were still using the TD04 turbo in the 2.5 engines!
