Default My Type R

Hi,

I just thought I'd post up some pictures of my car. Have already had some posts for advice so again thanks to anyone who has replied. I picked the car up last Saturday and am really happy with it. The car is a 1998 version 4 Type R. Only mods so far are the STi 6 rear wing and a Defi boost gauge so far as I can see. New to Subaru's so still learning about them.

Cheers

Matt

Thanks. I agree. I'd never even been in an Impreza until I took this one out for a test drive and it's easily the best car that I've owned. Can't believe how impressive they are in standard form!!

I like the look of the front bumper on yours different from the v5 look. I'm planning to keep mine as standard as possible probably just exhaust and panel filter. Plently of power as it is for me.

The front bumper is a fibreglass copy of the 22B it was already on when i got it but it's **** the quality is very poor and doesn't fit properly so i will either get a bet quality one or replace it with a standard bumper.
Simtek as also fitted by the previous owner and is slightly more powerful but i'm not really interested in pushing the power output, not even going to change the exhaust unless i see a nice STI Genome for sale.

Thids may help with your use of the DCCD https://www.scoobynet.com/technical-...anslation.html

I've been using it in the wet weather and it's fantastic, good tyres are a must though as i had some Wanlis fitted and they sucked ,changed to Falken 452 and the differance is amazing.

I'm looking to get an exhaust as I like the burble that they make.

Have been using the DCCD in the bottom position since getting the car as if I'm honest I don't have a clue what I'm doing adjusting it and in the wet have been wary of loosing the back end. It's by far the biggest car that I've had and I'm more familiar with small cars!!

Nice car bud, best colour too.

I have a V4 type R with one or two mods. If you want any ideas see the below links.

Well since i've only just got mine i'm definately no expert but the link i've posted was done by someone who seems to have a lot of experience wth chassis/suspension tweaking on imprezas.
If you do a search for 'DCCD settings or DCCD manual' in the Search bar it does come up with a few threads about DCCD use.

I originally went to look at a sonic blue car but it turned out to have the earlier interior which I am not as keen on so had a look at what turned out to be my car now I really do like the white. Just need the weather to improve so that it can have a good clean. Very impressive car I like the look of the black wheels on white car and the knocklink is nice and subtle with the Defi's.

I'll have to have a look into the DCCD before I start playing around with it. If I'm honest though I'm just happy to be finally driving an Impreza after years of wanting one.

Not to sure TBH bud. A mate of mine did it for me. Think it's just a high gloss heat res paint.

Nice type R just remember they only run on super unleaded (higher the octane the better, recommend a ks3 knock analyser to go with that too, group buy on those )

Thanks for the comments. I know about the fuel last car I owned was a Pulsar so used to super unleaded. I try and use V power where I can. Not seen the KS3 before. How easy are these to fit?

Pretty easy to fit though had mine done by an auto electrican as I have had her hard wired in rather than just using the lighter socket for the power.

Well after buying it I can't afford to do much to it yet. Whatever I do though will remain sensible as at the moment it's my only car. Am considering getting a run around though as I don't want to put loads of miles on it.
