Default Newage WRXs - post your mods/power

Hi guys, after reading a thread about boost pressures its got me thinking. My MY03 WRX is remapped to 271bhp, but is running quite a high boost pressure...

Could everyone with remapped WRXs post the power/boost pressure and mods on here?

Mine (MY03WRX):

Max Boost: 1.45-1.48 peak (registered with Defi Genomes)
Max Power: 271bhp @17C around 270lb/ft
Mods: ITG Panel filter, decat up pipe, Prodrive sports cat, NUR Spec BB, Janspeed middle decat, hooge top mount I/C, remap at Scoobyclinic

APS 3" with sports cat, Tubular headers, MRT FMIC, APS dual port dump valve, GEMS ECU and uprated fuel pump = 360 bhp proven

Also Tein flex with EDFC and plenty of whiteline goodies.

Agreed - so are the Defis wrong, or was Scoobyclinic's rolling road a bit pesimistic?

no, just the car makes higher power than the book figure quotes, mine did the same....simple as that. I was there on the day this run was done.

I also tested my own car when standard on 2 different rolling roads a few weeks apart and the results were around 25bhp higher than the book quotes.

some manufacturers like to quote low figures and be conservative, others like to quote a figure that the car will rarely achieve.

My blitz boost gauge (05 WRX) peaks around 1.45bar however, Bob R's gauge he plumbs in for mapping was showing 1.35bar so it would seems that my gauge is a tad optimistic. Also, the needle isn't damped in any way so it move's very quickly, possibly overshooting..?

Running usual mods inc STI TMIC/scoop etc and at PS last June 276/266 (in fact Curtis entered the comment "1.5bar high boost for WRX"..lol note this was off my gauge as none of their monitoring equipment was hooked up).

Note: PS and the Clinic are considered amongst the more realistic, ie conservative compared to most other RR's..!

With the inaccuraces of the gauges and notorious dyno variables it all adds up to a can of beans (or should that be worms..?)

Hi Mark,

Have you actually tested this..? Only asking as my car will be starting MOT's next year and I'm toying with the idea of a sports cat, but don;t want to impact too much on performance. Dose it effect you spool up as I get peak torque at 3200 rpm..?

What was it making before? Can't read your graphs!! Is it really worth changing the Solenoid? I've heard of this with classics, but newages???

What's that torque figure in lbs/ft?

Good thread this
MY03WRX
H&S Backbox and Centre decat (just passed its MOT no worries)
K&N Filter.

Got 260BHP and 363NM (267 lb ft)

So what seems interestng looking at the numbers removing the centre pipe (resonator) will add a bit of BHP and changing the Down pipe with a sports cat will hike up BHP but not impact torque that much

still going to do it though

Cant see as the resonator section can give much BHP but if you have the de-cat centre and either the decat or sports cat downpipes do you need to de-cat the up pipe as well ??

Obviously from this thread it appears to give you more BHP but would it cause any harm to leave it in place and if so will it pass the MOT ??

So if the car could be as much as 25bhp higher than expected, is PPP really that good value for money as it doesn't make that big an improvement as expected when compared to true bhp???

IMO, no, hence why i didnt bother to get it, just took the center decat out, and set a dawes device at 1.1bar, and put a panel filter in, ran it for quite a while like that before i changed a lot over.
