Default Do you get suspension knock on Spec C's?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place and it should be elsewhere on the site, but I thought it would be best to start my thread here.

Anyway, I've a question for Spec C owners out there: as I understand it the Spec C model(s) received uprated suspension units front and rear? Are these uprated suspension units immune to the dreaded newage suspension knock?

The reason I ask is because I have an '05 STi Type UK and I think that one of my suspension units is starting "the knock". I know you're all going to tell me that I should go for coilovers, but I'd much prefer to keep "official" parts on the car only and so would rather opt for Spec C units as a replacement - but only if I'm 99% sure that they aren't going to come with the same problem as the original STi units.

I've already spoken with one Spec C owner whose told me that his suspension has been trouble free, but I thought I'd put a post down and see if any other owners could offer any insight.

Many thanks!

The shocks are the same, the springs are different.
Hope that answers your question

Thanks for the replies everyone; possibly a little detail I should have added in my original post, but the replacement (Spec C) parts I've been offered are 2007 items. I don't know if that changes the unit at all?

As much as I want to keep everything STi, coilovers seem to be making more sense...

My Spec C knocked from about 5k miles. I replaced the shocks with EXE-TC - very good!

Mine knocking now after only 14k miles & to be replaced with coilovers asap. Same with GuvSpecC & Madisonmonkey, all spec c owners on here who have had suspension knock & replaced with BC's.

Not a spec-c but I had it in my 05STi. The knock was actually due to the shocks 'locking'. I had them replaced with original but revised shocks under warranty. If they go again then I will get BC coilies.

Thanls for the information everyone, looks like I'm going to have to go non-STi and go with some coilovers. I see the BC's and Tein's are both pretty reasonable, but I think I might save some pennies up and go for the AST option.
