How much to buy a 500 bhp sorted Hawkeye?
Just wondering what peoples opinion are on second hand price range of something such as:
Hawkeye Sti that has been prepared by a reputable tuner & is running a reliable 500bhp. So bigger turbo & uprated engine internals & all supporting mods. Also includng mods such as big brakes; uprated suspension; etc etc.
So basically buying one that someone has already done above mods on & was for sale. Not "how much does above cost to do if you do it youself". Any ideas?

probably quite a bit at a guess, most people end up breaking them in the end because they would get more for it.
I will have spent in excess of £17k on my 2001 Impreza once my engine is finished later this year.
I would be wanting £10k for that, doubt I'd get it though

next year i plan on taking my hawkeye to 500 with rcm and its going to be more than the cost of a new sti. dont think you will find many well modded hawkeye that people would want to sell

Low mileage immaculate 2006 Hawkeye STI = £14k
Value of mods... who knows but you would never get it all back anyway, so estimate of around £6-£8k secondhand. So in theory you are looking at around £20-£22k. You could argue more but you would struggle getting that much which is why they get returned to standard.

I must admit, it is exciting building your engine to that sort of spec 
Mines been off the road 6 months now so not long left to go.
Might be worth going down that route with yours? would mean loosing your car for a bit though.
I could have had mine sooner but I would have ended up owing money to credit cards etc.

I have some mods and I am currently running a genuine 500+Bhp and to have the top boys build it is very expensive, and worth every penny

Personally, a car that has been used on track, but very well maintained with documented reliability, is worth a lot more in my eyes than say a fresh build that is only used at weekends.

The guys are right in what they say but don't let it put you off a serious mod.
If you give up at say 400 and then sell it you will waste your money.
If you reach 500 and the car is set up accordingly, believe me you wont ever want to sell it, so if you have the dollar it wont be wasted.
Been there, done it.

My car is for sale and has had many of the mods done, ie defis, Andy forrest remap, performance friction just to name a few, 2006 28k on clock etc.
I am looking for £14k and not had one person intrested so i think mods personally unless its the right person scare people off.

modifications certainly dont scare people off in my view, if they are a known quantity and the vehicle is known and a good un.
I have had four, firm cash offers on mine made over the past month, and have not even advertised the. Mine is modified more than most.

I was someone had a coplete car that I could of bought as looking back now its a complete waste of cash when you add it up and you still add more

Whilst the owner will have shelled out squillions to get 500bhp my view is that you'll only get back a few £k over the odds of a standard car ie if you've spent £10k you may get £2k back, if you've spent £20k then perhaps you'll get back £5k etc. I guess that's why most get broken for parts, shame really although you can never recover the labour cost

It also has a lot to do with who wants to buy and the "specific" car in question. Some will fetch more than others, just because of the car itself and history associated with it.
I was offered £25k for mine last year.... I nearly took it, but then **** my pants! If I was offered this again right here, right now, I still wouldn't sell it for that at the moment.

To be fair, I think when you're contemplating that level (500+), you need to intend to keep the car; as you'll lose your shirt if you sell it, or incur a load of hassle if you break the car for parts. Consequently, I don't think many good uns come up for sale. If they do; it's a case of how long is a piece of string. I've seen seriously modified cars (read 15k+ spent in mods) go for a mere few thousand over what a standard counterpart would be worth.
A reliable Circa 400 bhp, which would be very nice on the road, is much more attainable these days and if you're not sure you want to keep the car long term, this would be the level to stop at for most.
If you have the money though, go for it!

A reliable Circa 400 bhp, which would be very nice on the road, is much more attainable these days and if you're not sure you want to keep the car long term, this would be the level to stop at for most.
