Default good reasonable price set of axle stands from where?

Can anybody recommend me some axle stands?? I've just got a pair of Clarke Strong Arms, these are ok quality but the saddle is to deep & doesn't sit anywere, also where are the best points to put them? Cheers Mark

Are the Halfords 2t pin type anygood? The Clarke are the first rachet stands i've had & gotta say i'm not keen, think i'll stick with the pin type

Halfords 3 tonne stands are about £15 with a trade card. They are pretty decent though.

Halfords got an offer on - axle stands , trolley jack and trolley to get under the car for £39.99
Don't know what its like just saw it sunday

Cheers for the info mate that's not a bad price, I could do with a temporary jack as my Clarke aluminium jack has blown the seals already i've not had it 5 minutes, can anybody recommend any other stands & where you prefer to locate them?

Cheers, I will have a browse on eBay, the Clarke ones I have were from Machine mart but I don't find these very good they don't sit right anywere with the saddle being so deep so was wondering if there was a particular manufacterer/model you guys prefer to use? Cheers

I got the HF ones and they do the job .. put them under the car

Looks like Halfords 3ts it is then, I shall put them under the cari've never really had to use my axle stands as I've got a few spare paving slabs knocking about which come in handy for oil changes etc, but looking underneeth there doesn't seem to be many options for putting the stands without bending or putting a hole in anything or throwing out the geo that's why I ask?

Put them under the suspension pick up points. You won't bend those bits.

i always put mine under the anti lift kit ...should i not be doing this ???

That's where I was thinking on the front the antilift kit,how about on the rear? there is a reinforced bit just in from the pinch weld, read some people use this but others have had it bend & don't recommend it? heres a pic i found
