On the same note is their a legal requirement on the minimum dimensions of a reg plate - I think the smaller ones look a lot better (like POC's) but aint sure if its legal or not?

When I first bought my Scoob (over 2 years ago) it had a tiny motorbike style front plate.
I got pulled 3 times in the first week for the plate, given a producer each time and told I would keep getting stopped until I'd changed it to a legal plate.
Since changing the plate, I've never been pulled again.

I've got a smaller front plate which I had done when I put a private reg on the car. There are only 5 characters in the reg no.which makes it a bit easier.
I'll measure the plate tonight and post the dimensions.
FYI, when I ordered the plate, my request to the place that made them up was to make the front plate as small as possible, but with legal font/spacing.I've also got a GB logo.
AFAIK, the size of the plate isn't the issue, it's the type/size of the lettering that counts.
If anybody can give me a step by step run through as how how to post pics, I'll add a photo.(I've tried the uploader thingy before, but got no joy!!)

You can run into problems with the law if you go too small, but you can use a smaller one than standard without problems.
On my car I cut the plate down to the legal minimum size using the smallest legal font for a car. It is noticably smaller than standard, and doesn't intefere with airflow to the radiator etc.
Try the Gtgrafix site for details. They will supply a plate cut to your requirements.

Opps, forgot to add that the law doesn't define the size of the plate, but instead defines the font, and the spacing between the letters and numbers. Hence, the minimum plate size also depends on your registration number.

It is 330mm x 60mm
If you go to impact-signs.co.uk and ('phone) ask them to reduce the size of the standard plate inc text until it reaches that size it should be "in proportion".
Beware!!! this size plate is not legal, you will be stopped.
Good luck, MD.
ps. Tell 'em I sent ya, Ive spent about £200,0000 on plates...long story.

Moles Dad
Why didnt you mount the number plate on the position on the bumper exactly above where you currently have it - i.e with no intercooler interference - just were a number of us (i.e. Bob Rawle) have it.......
