Default 350 bhp please !!

Hi guys,

I've not been on for a while as I've been happy with my 284 bhp re-map by Andy forrest but after having a go in my mates 508 bhp evo feel the need for the next step. I'm only looking to reach about 350 bhp but don't wan't to go overboard with the coin so would settle for a bit less power. I have a 2005 wrx with a sportscat-cat exhaust, standard turbo, upgraded plugs and filter. I'll probably go for a td05 hybid turbo but not sure what else I need, maybe a new clutch ? Any help will be welcome.
Cheers guys.

new injectors (550cc pink sti) vf34/35 turbo needed for 350 bhp. td05 wrx turbo wont do, full decat exhaust, walbro fuel pump, bigger sti tmic, panel filter, remap, and you wont be far off 350bhp

but as said brakes will be useful when you want to stop

Reaching 350 on a TD05 will be easier than a VF35.

As brun said the td05 is well enough for 350bhp it will produce more power then a 34/35

True, but you'd still be hard pushed to get 350 out of a VF35 as the OP wants.

be done plenty of times and can easily hit 350 on a vf35 if you have uprated headers also

Yep, it's been done plenty of times but at the same time "easily" might be open to dispute. The more usual figure for the 35 is around 320-330. As you've pointed out, with supporting mods such as the headers you've mentioned, 350 is achieveable but that would be spending more "coin" than the op would like to. I would also guess that on a few 350bhp VF35's friendly rollers were involved

if the OP is planning on competing with his mates evo at 508bhp he should go for a 20g/25g with supporting mods imo cause a 350bhp wrx wont sit with a 508bhp evo,

Evidently not, but I would suggest making sure whatever you change now to get about 350 are not things that will need changing again later to get a bit more - if possible. I don't know as I don't even own an impreza

....especially not a newage wrx, whatever chance a classic with 350bhp would have though may be a bit better

Question

What sort of power can the standard internals on a WRX safely take?

Was thinking about the same thing myself but would settle for 320-330 as long as the risk to the engine was minimal.

Iv got blobeye wrx with full de cat exhaust, induction kit, fmic, walbro 255, pink injectors and a vf35 and waiting remap by jolly green monster who is expecting between 340-350 bhp. Went for a vf35 because f being in milton Keynes which s full of roundabouts so quick spool up is ideal I find.... Anyone agree?

Just need brakes now to stop for the damn roundabouts.

I would go with injectors, tubular headers, TD05-16g and a STi8 TMIC (+remap).

Wouldn't change the clutch until it needs doing or engine/box is out anyhow.

16g is enough to blow your gearbox. Budget £2k for a suitable replacement if you push the 16g to potential.
