Default Whats inside a swirl pot?

Hi guys. Basically i want to know if anyone knows whats inside a swirl pot? Reason i as is now and again i get fuel surge, Ive heard a few people haveing this problem and have seen some of your set ups with an extra pump and swirl pot and i would like to do it to mine. Im woundering if i can make my own swirl pot as im an aliminium fabricator/ welder for a liveing and have made many things such as fuel tanks, catch cans and lots of intercooler hard pipes, so im prety sure a swirl pot shouldnt be a problem but i dont know alot about them, do they have anything inside or is it a case of just a small pot with an outlet at the bottom, an inlet to fill it up and an over flow back to the tank. Any help or advice would be great, im going on hol on wed for 2 weeks so want to get started on this as soon as i get back. cheers, rich

Petrol !

Sorry couldn't resist !

I wouldn't expect that they need much as it's merely a resevoir.

Aaaah fellow fabricator/welder

Try this, I had a quick read and it all seems to be correct, we used to make them for the F1 cars and they were very similar to this. Just take note of the part referring to the bottom pipe being offset to one "side" of the pot to make it swirl, thats quite important

Swirl Pots

Good luck and piccy when done, I want to see how good your ali welding is

Oh and you can buy all the threaded ali "dash" fittings from earls to weld on to the pipes etc if you didn't know

Grand job, cheers for that mate will have a good read up and get cracking when i get back off my hols in 2 weeks.
Ive been welding ali for 6 years now so like to think my work is upto standard, i recently replaced alot of pipes on a friends sunny gtir as the welding on those, done by a very well known company were absolutely shocking ( well i thought so anyway )
Here is a few pics of some work i did on my last car (astra coupe turbo )

And some work i did on my skyline.

So as you can see ive done a bit on my own cars and alot on other peoples cars, carnt wait to get started on my impreza now.

A good point in the link about separating the heated fuel returning from the rails, and the cold fuel entering from the tank....

IMHO

P.S. Make a batch and sell them !
