They're scraping the barrel a bit here aren't they? They're celebrating 20 years of Japanese Sports cars but actually have to include some much older cars in their list (eg. Mazda Cosmo & Toyota 2000GT) to reach 20 cars. Even worse, they plump together loads of different cars under one name:
RX7: there were 3 completely different versions that I can think of, yet they give the successor RX8 its own vote?
Supra: weren't there about 4 different successive models? They can't all have been exactly the same!
Evo & Impreza? Hmm, there have been pages of different models!
Celica: millions!
Skyline: likewise, yet they give the GT-R its own vote.
And lets face it, how many of the cars listed are actually Sports Cars, rather than beefed-up Sports Saloons (eg. Impreza, Evo), Coupés (Integra, Skyline, 350/370Z) or Grand Tourers (280Z, 300ZX, Supras)? I would say that the list should be:
Toyota 2000GT
Mazda Cosmo
Honda S800 (Car don't include this one)
Nissan 240Z
Toyota MR2
Mazda MX-5
Mazda RX7 (the last, fast one)
Honda NS-X
Honda S2000
Nissan GT-R
That's 10 cars in total. So being honest, even if I have forgotten one or two obscure ones, Japan has not yet produced anything like 20 actual Sports Cars!
As for the winner, I guess it has to be the MX-5 for helping to bring back Sports Cars to the masses.

I know that there are dozens of Impreza models because i own one, when it comes to most other marques i am clueless and i guess the vast majority of the public who will vote on this would be the same.
If you were looking for a specialist vote with specific models that you would have to have some sort of encyclopedic knowledge of all Japanese Cars before you could even think about voting on then yes you are right its a rubbish poll

Can't believe we've only got 197 votes and 4%!
I must admit I do really like the last gen Supra, but of course couldn't vote for it.
Surprised that the S2000 is so far ahead. It's a good car, but didn't think it had a huge following.

I lol'd at the S2000 being in the lead, no doubt the honda s2000 club got on there before us, seems they dont have a clue what the NSX is as its a far better car than the s2000 will ever be (plus seriously iconic when it comes to jap cars) so yeah, thats what I voted for
