Default how quick for quarter mile

Hi all

According to the haynes book on imprezas uk classics will do the qtr mile in about 14 secs.

The question is having added another 100 or so bhp with some well chosen mods what sort of time did you get?

Or if your uk classic has well over 300bhp what time did you manage?

The quarter mile is as much about technique and skill as it is power.

A good driver with plenty of practice launching and a 280bhp time could be quicker than a average driver with little launch practice and 320bhp.

Although over 300bhp I would expect low 13's.

everyone seems obsessed with 0 -60 mph but I think qtr mile times take into consideration gearing and such like as well and are a better reflection of a cars performance. Suppose 30 to 120 might be more sympathetic to the old girls transmission though rather than a standing start!

@ Kemble Airfield last Saturday, my lardy Newage Type 20 did practice runs with an in car GPS meter, with Passengers. it did two runs at 4.6secs one missed second run at 5.6sec

Later during Track runs it was also timed @ 5.4 secs so I got worse with Practice
Tony

Ps Hopefully my clutch should be replaced by tommorow as you say 30-120 is much kinder

I managed a 12.4@111 wit my uk classic wagon running around 340bhp.

With a 2.5 running around 400bhp I got a 12.2@115

I dont get the obsession 1/4's???

Why dont peole do track days instead of straight line rubbish?

Done low 9's in my mates 900bhp evo 8... not as good as sliding out of bends

If you want quick 1/4s get a bike as most 600cc bikes will **** on most/all scoobs on here and for peanuts (£2k)
