Is there a difference between UK Classic and STI Classic Oil Filters
From the pic below, the middle one is the one I took off my STI. Got the one on the left from Opie oils and it looks like its to big (width) the one on the rights from Halfords. The one I took off the middle bit (with the holes) goes inwards whereas the other 2 point up.
Are either of them OK to use?

Ive recently done an oil change on my type R and noticed exactly the same differences between OE subaru filter, and the opie oils filter, i fitted the opie filter with no probs

Those in the know say that you shouldn't use anything other than the genuine Subaru oil filter and that's what I always do for my Import classic. Doesn't cost that much even from the Stealers...I mean Dealers. Part number 15208AA100.
And always "prime" (pre-fill with oil) your filter before you fit it .
