Default little selling advice

guys i am thinkng of selling the p1 and have it up on pistonheads and i have been contacted by a guy form the netherlands wanting to buy the car, he seems legit and is willing to pop a token deposit in my paypal account and bring the rest in cash on the day (which all seems ok) obviously i will not let the car, key or log book go until i have put the cah into my bank and i have explained that to him to which he seems fine with.

one thing he wants me to do is to give him the vid chassis number and the reg of the car so he can get a one day insurance policy, does that sound right?
when i have done a one day they just need the reg, am i just being over causious and worrying for nothing?
and two wouls you consider selling in this manner?

thanks

steve

I am in France and if I was buying the car I would need the reg number chassis number and a photocopy of the V5 to give to the insurance company.
As far as I know you he will not be able to put the car into his name with a foreign address. When I buy a car I always register it in the UK first then export it.
As long as he is paying cash can’t see a problem
If he needs a Certificate of Conformity to register it in Holland tell him to ring Subaru UK ask for the homologation department they will issue one free

Hi,

I'm the one buying your p1, i've found your nicely subaru on this forum, and after searching for some extra information about the car i've found this topic.

The netherlands doesn't give easily a one day insurance policy, that's the reason why i need all the reg number, chassis number etc.
I think they don't need a photocopy of the V5, but I hear that tomorrow, then I tell you on the mail.

[edit]: Don't worry, i'm honest!

Cheers
Jeroen

Same in Sweden as well, you need the VIN for the insurance policies

Edit: If you're insuring a foreign car you're importing, i mean, so it seems perfectly reasonable
