Excellent bit of kit guys and remember to watch the video in https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ain-plugs.html

The original is not magnetic, put it this way little bits of metal can get between the main bearings and crank and cause alls sorts of damage. The above plug magnet will actually work while the oil is sitting in the pan and car is not in use. (don't buy the fakes i have been there and it fell out of the sump plug as the resin they use to attach magnet to plug is rubbish.

I used to use little magnets (these were mega strong) on the oil filter aswell works when the car is functional. 4 to 6 number magnets dependent on their magnetic field i.e. to many begin to oppose each other and begin to push each other off the filter. I cut the filter up and was amazed with my find of filings. Although engine was still strong.

The Gearbox Sump Plug is magnetic - the Engine Sump Plug isn't.

Any particles which the filter does trap are not worth worrying about ..... I certainly wouldn't bother, personally.
