Default Stolen Impreza question.

My friend had left his scooby somewhere after it had broken down. It was stolen the idiots tried everything to get it on the back of a lorry, even trying to lift it from the spoiler ruining both boot and spoiler in the process. The pait work and inside are MINT. the car has done 27,000 miles and is a 2ltr turbo, T reg non WRX in deep blue. Now i like this car and want this car. but i want to know how much damage the thiefs could have / would have done in order to steal the car..

I have no idea about these things but in my own naive oppinion it would need a new immobilizer. So my question is really , has anyone had their scooby nicked before or had a sort out a similar problem, because it wont run for very long and i want to buy it !!!..

Thankyou .

Thieves are not exactly subtle when it comes to stealing cars, bad ones will just wreck a car trying to steal it, body panels, locks, ignition, interior etc.

That lot seemed like muppets so I would expect the worst, plus you have the issue of why the car broke down in the first place.

Default in more detail.

Sorry i am not very good at trying to explain things in detail.

The window was replaced ( i think ) the interior is absolutly MINT, it will need a new spoiler and there is a small dink on the passenger door but its minor. i think he had ran out of petrol .. The bloke lives near me and i have seen it. i was also wondering if there are ways of bypassing the imobalizer temporarily until i can get it fixed????

Thanks for the quick reply.

Ran out of petrol?...you wouldnt leave it when you can get a jerry can and some petty and off you go....hmm

Steer well clear...unless its free and your an autoelctrician/panel beater by trade....sounds like a shagged hand grenade to me

I think thats about right . I was hoping it would all be a nice easy fix but i think it would just be bag of problems its a simple case of mind vs reality.

He only wants 700 for it .. and i could probably get it for 600. If the imobalizer was a "cheap fix" just to get the running i would go for it because it is MOT'd and has a Full service history as well as it looking mint insidre and out *exept the couple of things explained above*.

cost me £75 to get my immobilizer bypassed when it failed last year. That included the call out charge. Then another £450 for a new toad fitted with perimeter sensor.

If its that price, go for it, get the car moved to your house and get a car security fitter out to install a new security system including the removal of the old one.

Immob on 98 is in ecu.
However assuming he has keys then that should be no issue.
Obviously there is a starting issue which seller thinks or says is immob.
They may have tried to hot wire it and screwed wiring.
Assuming it is just wiring then it shouldnt take the right auto electrician long to sort.
But suspicious there maybe more wrong with it.
If there is so little wrong then why is he not fixing and selling or keeping and I presume it is recorded stolen recovered now?
