Noise and check engine light

Noise and check engine light
Gave my 330s a good spank last night let it cool down properly.
Popped into the chinky to pick up me takeout and started it.
It didnt actually start and made a strange noise which only stopped when I hit the start button again.
Hit it again and it started ok no noise but the check engine light was on and the si drive light was flashing and it didnt allow me to change it.
Cruise light was flashing too.
Car runs fine.
Got home turned it off for say 15 minutes started it again all fine??
Any ideas for the techys??
I thought maybe a jammed starter motor??
