Default Headers-how much wrap?

Hi, just a quickie, how much wrap do you guys use for a set of stainless headers? My under bonnet temps are too high, time to control it a little!

Thanks,Mit

Mine were done with both 2 and 1 inch wrap, and an excellent job by Prosport in doing them

i think you need to check the 25mts bit, i've just had mine done with 2" and we used around 40 mtrs.

depends how closely you want wrap it i suppose.

amazes me how little you can do with a big role.

I've just bought 30m, just wish i'd wraped them before fitting them first time round!
Have any of you sealed them with hi temp paint? Thinking it will stop the water ingress a bit!

Nope, not heard of that one, have been told that you should wash your hands before touching/rubbing/scratching/using the toilet though

This is the stuff I'm thinking of:
HIGH HEAT EXHAUST WRAP COATING - THERMO TEC - 12oz on eBay (end time 09-Jul-09 13:14:30 BST)
Sounds good in theory!

Ok, Ive just read a thread on another forum about wrapping headers causing them to crack, and also transferring excess heat into the heads, and potentially burning out valves etc. Does anyone make insulating header gaskets, to reduce the heat transferred into the block from the headers? I have inlet insulators.
