Does Removing AC increase BHP?
Whilst using it it does sap a little power, but the main benefit in removing it is the weight of the system. TBH, unless you're prepping the car for track use and thinking of competing to a reasonable level, leave it on and be thankful it's there on hot days whilst stuck in traffic.

Unless you remove the "evap" unit under the dash, you aren't doing it properly anyway...
Agree with Dave, be thankful, whilst all around you are sweating.

As above, the ac has a slipper pulley, so unless it's on, the pump's not being driven, so no power loss. I toyed with the idea of ditching mine from a weight saving point of view, but the car gets so hot, it's nice to have!

thanx all, to be honnest i wasnt going to take the AC unit out, but 1 of my friends has, and he told me u could be gaining approx 10bhp, i was just wondering on how true this really was. TRUST ME i am thankfull on hot days, but the only down side is, we dont get them very frequently, lol as on a hot day i have all the windows down with the sunroof open anyways lol
On motorways, doing the speed limit(ish), having the windows down's a no no for me, A/C is perfect for this. Also, when it's raining, but still hot, i don't fancy getting wet!
