Whilst using it it does sap a little power, but the main benefit in removing it is the weight of the system. TBH, unless you're prepping the car for track use and thinking of competing to a reasonable level, leave it on and be thankful it's there on hot days whilst stuck in traffic.

Unless you remove the "evap" unit under the dash, you aren't doing it properly anyway...

Agree with Dave, be thankful, whilst all around you are sweating.

IMHO

As above, the ac has a slipper pulley, so unless it's on, the pump's not being driven, so no power loss. I toyed with the idea of ditching mine from a weight saving point of view, but the car gets so hot, it's nice to have!

When it (occasionally ) gets really hot, windows up and A/C on full is much cooler

I thought the gain was much less than that in terms of BHP. How many BHP does it need to run a Lawnmower??

The gain is in the loss of weight...... Force = Mass X Acceleration

On motorways, doing the speed limit(ish), having the windows down's a no no for me, A/C is perfect for this. Also, when it's raining, but still hot, i don't fancy getting wet!
