Now you ain't gonna believe this - I vowed years ago never to go near one of these places ever again. But, I needed my worn out track tyres to be replaced on my spare trackday rims, by some part worn ones for a trackday this weekend. It was Sunday so I had nowhere else to go that was open but Kwik Fit !
So, I left my wheels with them and came back after lunch. All four tyres changed over and wheel rebalanced. They asked a few questions about the car and were all chummy, but finally I said 'Thanks guys, but how much do I owe you ?'

(this is Kwik Fit remember)

his answer:
'Nah, dont worry mate, just have fun next weekend'

Now, I have got to say, elsewhere I was charged £10 per wheel - so this was a real result. What a change for these guys to make you smile for once.

Shocking.

I got the misses to pop in one saturday when I was at work to get them to fit a new set of front brake pads, which we already had. They said that the discs were below thickness through years of wear and tear and would not fit the pads unless we purchased new pads. Funny thing was the discs had only been on for three months. I telephoned the manager and explained this to him and he suggested that I was supplied with a secondhand set and still refused to fit them.

Maybe the guys at KWKFT are under revolution??

That makes a pleasent change from going there for two tyres and being told you need new shocks and springs and that your brakes need changing as they are dangerous... all despite the car passing an MOT / being brandnew / just all been replaced the week before (delete as appropriate).

Allegedly!

National Tyres in Farnborough were excellent. They fitted my Nur Spec R system without any hassle whatsoever. Didn't charge me anything, so I gave them beer money They loved it, had never had such a throaty car in there before, they reckoned!

Thay also patched up my old Jasma system FOC while I was waiting for the Blitz to arrive.

The cheeky monkeys did take her out for a spin though with the blitz. Fog lights left on in broad daylight, 3 miles more on the clock than when I left her there Can't blame them really!

Cheers,

Nick

apparently kwik fit only supply and fit their own tyres and exhaust etc, so by fitting a 3rd party exhaust that they dont sell, if they charged you, it would be noted

by doing it for free it gives them something to do and may get them a few quid

Although they are now refusing to refit the original cat - Biatch!

I've had work done in the old days for the price of a couple of pints before - at Kwik Fit and National Tryes. Mind you I've also had some shocking howlers like refitting the shocks on my old Pug 405 upside down , then claiming it needed a new torsion bar (at £1000 fitted) after I nearly drove the car into a hedge 2 mins after leaving the garage....

My mota has diamond cut rims on it and the only place i would trust it to for getting the tyres changed is the local Kwik Fit
U ever tried putting 215/40/ZR17 tyres on rims ???
If u haven`t take my word for it, s no larfin matter, yet these guys did it without leavin a single mark on them and balanced them up "Kwik" as u like Can`t praise them enough.

I've had single tyres changed at Kwikfit on two separate occasions and each time they have said 'no charge, just buy the man a drink'.

Ben.

Edited to say in Cambridge of all places! :O
