Hatch Haters
I picked up my 330s yesterday and all I can say is WOW. This is my 7th Subaru, 5th Impreza. My last one was one of the last Hawkeyes as I couldn't stand the Hatch and thought by buying one of the last ones it would see me out to the next facelift. Having had so many bad comments from colleagues and clients about my car being too lairy the Hatch is a breath of fresh air. Everyone has commented on how much nicer and discreet it is compared to the old one.
It's also nice to be able to use the rear view mirror again without staring at a basket handle! I can't believe after 18 months of hating them I love them although I have to admit the 330s / euro spec Sti is a bit special.

Loud & lairy is all part of the fun!
I know what you are saying though, when dealing with clients you need to drive something that "looks" sensible, I am borderline with my yellow car, mind you they have no idea what's going on under the bonnet. Not everyone appreciates cars as much as us.
The hatch has grown on me a little, would just need to change the rear lights for something less chrome.

I do like the STI hatch. It looks much better in the flesh than in pictures.
I would also say though, those that buy a hatch aren't going to come on here and complain its a bag of spanners for the pages or mirth and ridicule provided by the haters.

I was left luke warm after a test drive (std. STI), but once you're used to a modified car a standard one seems "dull", I couldn't live with the Eurospec rear lights tho'.
Don't the JDM cars have proper "red" units ?
Enjoy it !

They still look like a dog poo .....sorry, but they still look to much like a Daewoo. Scooby is an your face car, why hide all the fun in a boring design?
But if you are happy then good luck mate!

I've always thought that they look like a Focus, not a Daewoo.
Took one out for a test drive - nice, but couldn't really justify the cost over my old Classic (the value of which I would lose the moment I turned the key in the new one).

The new shape has grown on me and I do like it a lot. The 330 is an awesome car, both in looks and performance. I think I am going to buy a used Porsche rather than a new 330 but only because I have wanted a Porsche since I was a kid.
Good purchase!!! Now lets see some pictures boys!

Not my cup of tea.
I have a discreet Hawkeye STI that goes and looks better than the 330S IMHO.
Having said that, enjoy as it is obviously what you wanted. Horses for courses is what I say.

People are still warming to the Hatch. They are a great car, very pleased with my Euro spec with PPP and Prodrive springs.
They are not as in your face as previous models but they go well, have a few more creature comforts and more leg room in the back.
The other good thing is they are still exclusive (Long live the haters !!!)

The Impreza hatch; like all Imprezas really is just a bland, derivative body shape with ugly bits attched. Imprezas of old were basically tarted up Corollas, The Impreza hatch is more of a tarted Mazda 3, only with a huge front overhang (to fit in the engine and decent crash bumpers). So based on that, they could never really be that offensive; its just what spoilers, scoops, lights and bumpers they stuffed on that gave the cars their defining looks. And the hatch is no different to the older car in that respect.
However, the rear lights are silly as are the quad exhausts.
I mean stupid 5" tailpipes and lexus light as aftermarket parts fitted by owners "following the crowds" (Baaaaa ) is one thing, but for manufacuturers to follow silly trends is another.
You never know though; the aftermarket industry may respond with small bore tail pipes and plain red light clusters
Removing the grey moustache from the front grill would improve the front end too IMO.

I hated the new hatch and about a year and a half ago I said that I would never buy one and after 2 new age impreza's we left for the dark side and bought a mitsubishi lancer gs4 diesil, it was ok but not ready for a retirement car just yet....
so 3 weeks ago I had to eat my words..
Apart from the trips to the fuel station, we are loving it, it has took a while for it to grow on me, but it is a great car so far !!
