Which Impreza?
Hi, i currently drive a 1994 toyota starlet turbo but im looking at upgrading to an impreza at some point in the near future. Ideally i'd like a 2 door but im unsure of which models are 2 door and what the differences between them will be, the only 2 i know of are the P1's & 22b's. Can someone give me a bit of information about these 2 and any other 2 door impreza's out there? Im 20 with 2 years no claims, and will be 21 in january so can hold out until then if insurance is being a pain.
Also as im new to scoobys in general can you also give me a rough idea or what mods work well with the impreza's? My Starlet is running 262bhp so im not new to modified jap cars, but every car responds differently to different mods
Cheers
Ryan

Both will be really high on insurance mate, 22b will probs be too pricey mate as they go for top dollar. P1s are alot cheaper nowa days, 2 door there is also type r's but they are imports which will put your insurance higher then the p1 mate.

Yea 22b's are way out of my price range, would love one some day, saw a really nice one at japfest, fully stripped & caged etc, think it was running anti lag also what engines are in the P1's and type r's? are the 2 litres? what power to they come with as standard? want something quicker than my starlet so will be looking at around 400-450 bhp, my starlet has 262bhp and weighs just over 800kg so goes like **** of a shovel, can easily beat most impreza's i see driving around here, vxr astra's, rs focus's, even done a couple of e46 m3's!

Standard power is 280ps or 276bhp, to get 400+ out of a type R (no abs fitted to these) isn't exactly cheap, your looking at a brake upgrade, clutch, gearbox, full engine rebuild using quality forged parts, fmic, cold air induction kit, after market mafless ecu (optional but recommended) so there your looking at.... 10+k though the new age cars (2001 onwards) the STI's have better brakes, clutches, engines that will run 400bhp with just a few mods etc.
The biggest problem is insurance, its a group 20 car, and if you modify it you can just keep adding money to the already expensive quote you will receive.
