I think the answer is no but will ask any way.
Is there any way of adjusting the idle speed on the 2.5 engine? Mine feels a little low for me, about 700rpm. Its ok but if it was a simple thing, 750 RPM is better.

 

There's a plate under my bonnet bottom right corner (when open) that says it's not.

 

im not sure about thr 2.5 engine as i have never owned 1. But if they are the same as 2.0

i think you can, i might be wrong though. if i remember rightly you need to open the 2

screws on top of the idle control valve



and then adjust it. I might be wrong as i cant

remember properly, im sure some 1 will be along to correct me though.

 

What year of car is it? dependant on the year it can be done with a laptop and the correct software

 

I adjusted mine in this way on 93 wrx i had, mainly because i was changing the Idle control valve as it was possibly faulty at the time.

 

You might have a faulty sensor that needs replaced.

 

If ecuExplorer works with your model car, which I believe it does, then you can load it onto a laptop and with the correct cable (e.g. Tactrix) you can use the software as a diagnostic tool and tweek the tickover if you want. I have raised tickover on my MY00 from 800 to 900rpm as this works much better with the lightened flywheel.
I would think any physical adjustment to the idle control valve is a bit Heath Robinson and may cause running problems elsewhere.
I expect anyone knowledgable with laptop access to your ecu could do it for you as well, using ecuTek software or similar.

I watched my tick over on the way home and from a drive to a stand still, it rests at 800 ish. then it drops to about 500 ish making the set off horride.
It doesnt always do it.

 

a dealer can do it for you on the select moniter

 

I got mine in tomorrow, will mention it.

 

Not sure if this applies to newage Imprezas, but you can check the error codes yourself to see if anything is faulty and needing replaced. Read this - JollyGreenMonster.co.uk

 

The EcuTek Delta Dash can do it - but I wouldn't. The standard idle speed is absolutely fine on an engine that's in good health, so changing it might just be masking the symptoms of a more serious problem.

My advice would be to get it checked out. It could be nothing. In my case I needed a complete engine rebuild

 

It's been fine since, it only did it a couple of times on the way home
