Cheek of some people
I've just sold a brand new clutch on here for a bargain price.
Not naming names but I've had af few people contact me about it.
The first of which asked its spec and said if it was uprated he'd take it. It's not an uprated clutch so to speak so I replied and told him the spec of the clutch (Exedy Organic) and what it was capable of. Didn't hear anything back.
About an hour later someone else comes along says they'll have it and pays buy paypal straight away.
This morning first chap comes back to me and says he'll have it. I politely tell him that someone else came along and paid there and then.
I got a proper snotty PM back.
Now in my eyes I've done nothing wrong here. I wasn't sure if my clutch would meet the first guys requirements I had no idea if he was running above the clutch's capabilities. I pm'd him with the details to see if it was ok and if he wanted it. I never heard back.
Now in my eyes somethings not classed as sold until its either paid for in full or a deposit is left.
Just a bit miffed that this fella had the audacity to send a snotty pm.
Discuss.

You are quite correct.Nothing is sold until some form of payment has been received. If the first guy isnt happy with you for not waiting for him to make his mind up then **** him IMO you have to be quick when buying stuff on here as a lot of it goes so quickly

Unless you agreed to sell it to the first person and they paid a deposit to hold it then it is just sour grapes on their part and they need to grow up a bit - IMHO of course!
Why would any man ask her indoors first - even if married!

You didn't do anything wrong Daz, I've recently had plenty of PM's along the same lines. On the other hand I've also had some transactions with some nice people on SNET.

I have had similar things Daz.
I even had one guy on my thread tell another guy who was interested in some parts that he had already claimed first dibs and that the other guy would have to wait FFS.
That is why I now put a "no first dibs" disclaimer in place and as far as I am concerned if the money aint in the bank, the goodies aint sold.

You did the right thing.
I had an offer for a Blitz SUS kit. Accepted, he kept promising he was going to pay but never did.
I turned down two other buyers whilst waiting.
In the end I put back up for sale and had a buyer a week later, the previous buyers had found something else.

The other thing that winds me up is when the vultures are circling before the parts are available.
For example, a written off car and people are chasing parts before the individual has even put a post up saying bits are for sale.
Projects on hold and people start asking if it is going to be broken...

I once put a damaged old wooden tall ship model in the yellow Ad Trader, free to whoever wanted it rather than chuck it out.
The phone rang all day, but I promised it to the first person who phoned, who was going to come by at teatime (which he duly did). I couldn't believe how angry some of the later callers got when I told them it was already spoken for, and no they couldn't come and get it before the teatime guy showed up and no they couldn't give me money to sell it to them instead of him.
