Default 02 ALIGNMENT/TRACKIN ADVICE

HI guys,

Just a few questions/advice....i have a 02 wrx sti uk & have just fitted a set of 18" prodrive oz racin wheels, i did howhever have to fit a set of 5mm spacers on the front (to clear the calipers) so:

1. do u think i need to have my car alignment/trackin done.

2. should it be just the front aligned/tracked or all 4 wheels.

3. i asked a subaru main deal & they quoted me £70+vat, i asked could i
choose different settings & they told me that they aglign/track the car
to the chassis number.

4. should i have also maybe fitted a set of 5mm to the back as well?

thanks in advance for any advice given

regards

shaun...

1) If it is running on the standard settings then yes you should definately. The car is much improved with prodrive settings (or similar)

2)Full 4 wheel alignment

3)You either may have to go to an independent if you cannot convince them. They do set cars up to the prodrive settings when they fit Prodrive springs, so they certainly know how to do it.
for info: -

Standard settings are: -
Front Camber -0°30’ (±0°45’)
Front Toe 0±3 mm (0±0.12 in) Each toe angle: ±0°07’30”
Rear Toe 0±3 mm (0±0.12 in) Each toe angle: ±0°09’

PD settings are: -
a. Set the tyre pressures to:
i. Front 2.3 bar (33psi)
ii. Rear 2.1 bar (31psi)
b. Settle the suspension by driving a few miles on the road
c. Set the geometry to:
i. Front Camber -1°15’ (-1.25°) - this one makes ALOT of difference.
ii. Front Toe Total 0°00’ (0.00°)
iii.Rear Toe 0°06’ (0.1°) per wheel toe in [0°12’ (0.2°) total toe in]

Replacing the rear plastic droplinks with alloy ones (Whiteline or similar) on this car is also a VERY good and cheap mod.

Somewhere like Prosport in Manchester will do both of these for you.

4) don't know, sorry, probably not(?)

GUYS,

Thanks very much for the info, it is most appriciated,

1. is it ok to ask for the prodrive settings with the standard sti springs.

2. What difference will i feel between the stan & pd.

3. Will i expect any xtra tyre wear choosin the pd setting.

and yes i did find that goin fron the stan 17" to the 18" i do seem to have a lot of tramlinin,,,mainly to the left...

thanks again guys 4 the advice
