I'm guessing you've just got the wrong pipe there - for a v7 perhaps?

Yup, that one is for a newage car. No.1 is the air dump from boost solenoid. This could be blocked off though.

Is it possible to remove the metal joiner on 2, cut the hose back to point straight out and then put the joiner back in?

Looking at an SFS hose for a 99/00 car, it also has connection 2 as pointing upwards, so the only problem is connection 1.

think i will just run a feed from number one and hide it somewhere and put a bung in it.

been looking at my engine and notice if i change the next bit (circle in white in pic)on the induction to samco(the bit between the maf housing and the new pipe i have already got) then i need to find a place for a pipe that goes into the oem bit (comes from a round tub thing near the abs circle in red) so can i just plum that into number one??
