Question

Im pretty sure its not, but bloody sure it should be!

I know Im bound to get flamed for this (no pun intended), but I am still amazed that its legal to smoke and drive.

On numerous occasions I seen people only partially in control whilst trying to find **** and light one.

Plus, if its illegal to drink or eat whilst driving why is smoking allowed? At the end of the day you can drop drink/food if you need to and clear up the mess later. Are you going to drop a lit *** because you need to use both hands whilst driving!?

Well as I understood it, you have to be in full control of your vehicle at all times. Therefore smoking / eating / drinking etc could be described as not being in full control. I'm sure Stuart H will give you the proper explanation

Robski,

Go back to sleep!!!!!!

So I cant smoke in my office, restaurants, some pubs, shops, shopping centres......now your telling me I shouldnt be able to smoke in my car???????

GET A LIFE

So you should'nt have windows (cause opening them, means you need to take a hand off the steering wheel)

So you should'nt have a radio (cause changing tunes, means you need to take a hand off the steering wheel)

So you should'nt have good looking women drivers (cause seeing them, means you need to take a hand off the steering wheel )

HIT THE MUPPET BUTTON........NOW!!!!!!

Shaun.

Ill wonder if more people have been killed or injured becuase of someone being too busy smoking or on mobile phones.

I bet smoking is worse, after all a phone doesnt burn a hole in your pants.

(unless you dial 0898 696969!!)

Much as i hate to admit it i am with Shaun and Harj on this one!

Oi Robski
do you propose a ban on radios, mobile phones, gloveboxes, window winders, sun visors, rear view mirrors, these all involve you taking your hannds off the wheel

Gottago, *** time!

Question

Darn it, I meant to mention the mobile phone.

Just an open discussion guys (Harj and Shun please put your toys away, and go join the rest of the leppers outside on the pavement having a ***).

If consuming drink/food or talking on a mobile distracts your attention, why is smoking allowed which seems far worse in my view.

Forget about smoking, eating, etc.

What about people with kids, who take their eyes off the road to check the kids aren't fighting, eating the seat, smearing choclate everywhere, etc!!!

I've seen people driving, and smacking their kids at the same time!!!

That's far worse than the act of smoking, which I have perfected over the years!!!

Andy

I smoke in my car, and yes it is dangerous and i do agree (i know pot calling the kettle and so on), but there have been a few times when i have dropped a ***, and had to pull over at the nearest layby to stop it from setting light to my car!! If it was illegal, i would stop it (honest Guv), and it would help me to cut down smoking anyway!

Cool

I'm with robski on this.

I've seen people trying to light a *** while driving. Opening the packet while steering with one finger, fumbling with the lighter and not looking where they are going. And to cap it all, throwing the butt out of the window while it's still lit!! If this happen in front of me I give them a self-righteous flash of the headlights.

I don't want to upset any smokers, but it the most disgusting habit there is (well, maybe not the most disgusting, but pretty close ).

sneezing too - stop it at once. a significant minority of accidents involving a single vehicle, in good visibility on a dry, relatively straight road, are caused by the driver sneezing and losing control. allegedly.

.. i think more to the point, like it is down for appropriate speed for conditions, thus there are appropriate times you can light a ciggy safely, ie. not at 60mph with back end out negotiating an S bend!!

For everybody who smokes, I know you don't notice it but let me tell you that you really stink (As does your car and house if you smoke in those). Oh and having a mint doesn't disguise the smell so stop kidding yourself.

But please don't let me put you off as I am sure the government loves the revenue...

You can be prosecuted for driving while smoking or eating.

Driving without due care and attention!!!

Although I think the guy charged with it for eating a Kit Kat got let off by the CPS, but I believe there has been succesful prosecutions for people not driving with due care for trying to light up on motorways etc.

harj using all of his eloquence as usual, not!

I got nothing against leppers (I mean smokers) although they should be taxed way more heavily, and automatically put at the bottom of the queue for health care.

The question was (for the hard of understanding, read: harj), should it be illegal? I say yes, its a bigger distraction than eating/drinking, and probably about the same as a mobile, so why is it generally seen to be ok?

on the sneezing bit, try hayfever its a bugger. Hayfever kills, I can see the adverts now!

Followed a bloke smoking and on a mobile phone this morning.

What the fsck was he driving with? Don't answer that one, before anyone comes up with the clever dick comments.

A woman once pulled out in front of me at a roundabout, and we clipped - no damage thankfully, but the excuse was, "my kids were shouting that toys r us would be closed".

Ban kids, smoking and mobile phones.

...does this mean I'm gonna have to stop writing the answers on my copy of The Times crossword balanced carefully on the Momo???

Its taken me ages to be able to get the letters in the white squares only, especially when joining the motorway from a slip road

Crosswords can kill......

Believe me, when you spend your weekend knocking 7 shades of poo out of people (and NEVER get whacked yourself ), you need some nicotine to calm you down!!!

When i'm at Donno, I will walk around with a big fat cigar..........and blow it in each and everyone of your faces

Now who's going to stop me????????????

Whoever just mentioned that we (I mean us smokers) should be taxed more and put to the bottom of thr NHS pile can Naff right off!

We already pay enough tax on ****, and effectively pay for the NHS twice. Once through our normal Taxes and twice through the ****. So it is the non-smokers who should be at the bottom of the bloody pile.

Christ on a bike, we are doing nobody but ourselves harm, and if you come back with the passive smoking argument...well don't sit around a smoker when they light up!!!

Bleedin nora, nothings bloody allowed anymore.....

Not one to get on my high horse very often, but this really gets on my wick....
