I'd have thought that the best way to prevent this type of thing happening would be to customise the join script in order to weed out those names that are undesirable.

Why happens if people go for webbie or webmaster3 or webmeister?

Do I find it confusing? well, no, but then I am assuming that you have nothing to do with running this bbs, if you do, then fair enough, if not, CHANGE IT! It's not big, it's not hard, and it's not clever. Some people, newbies I guess, could confuse comments that you post as being those of SDB, which would not be good.
