Cool

With all this talk about speed cameras and such like - let me just run a 'SUPPOSE' past you all:-

If one of your letters or numbers on your plate is dirty, say a piece of mud has been thrown up, and it renders that particular digit unreadable (accurately) then it follows that you cannot be done for speeding by a camera.

Considering that the penaly for a dirty numberplate is, what? £20 with no points - then surely, using elementary maths, 3 Dirty Numberplate violations = 1 speeding (at £60?) and the points vanish ... whooooosh!

I take it you can get an infinate number of Dirty Numberplate violations without it flagging up somewhere??

As a point aside, has anyone seen those new Golfs???? every one I have seen has had a rear numberplate that is un-readable (the muck obviously gets thrown up right on that area)

Before all the 'do-gooders' on here jump down my neck for suggesting such a thing - it is NOT what I intend to do or what I recommend others to do - its just the start of a discussion ok??

Pete

Hey Pete

Golfs are really bad for dirty rear ends something up with the aerodynamics i think. I used to have a Mk3 and you shoulda seen the back of that sometimes, a layer of muck about an inch thick

If you put mudguards on your trailer tent wheels they won't throw mud up onto your rear number plate.....

Well, this looks like a dead thread - all the 'do-goody two shoes' have stayed away and I put my asbestos suit on especially to get flamed tonight

It's an interesting idea. I tend to drive long journeys & often down muddy back roads so often when I come back my number plates are illegible. I clean them coz I don't want to get pulled over but maybe next time I'll think twice
