I believe it was commonly refered to on here by a famous (Read infamous) chap as a "Cocklink"

Hi Tenby: Order received

Just to clarify the main differences between a Knocklink and KS-3 Knock Analyser:

(I started writing this and then realised that they are so far apart, take a look at SUPERHIDS ONLINE STORE - WHOLESALE PRICES DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC - Knock Analysers :: KS3 Knock Analysers vs [url=http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Knock_Link_Kit-LNK_KL_KIT.asp[/url] "

My knocklink is in the shed if anyone want to make me an offer. It's in bits as I got tired of how ugly it was and was about to do a remote LED install - then the KS3 Knock Analyser came along

It's a pity that Roojai isn't making his Detalarm any more. It was half the price of the Knocklink and actually works very well (confirmed with detcans). Yes, the KS3's are very good too, but not cheap.

So whats the difference between KS3 and KS4?

The knocklink is ugly but does it not do the same job? They both use a knock sensor but the KS things have a posh display rather than LEDs.

Not knocking ( ) the KS3/4 just wondering whether they are worth it over a knocklink.

The basic function performed is the same with the KL and KS3.

The price difference between the two is just £20 or so and the KS3 gives you the following over a KL:
  • Audible (as well as visual) alerts
  • Peak hold
  • Backlit LCD Screen
  • Bar graph/numerical display
  • Quality Aluminium case
  • Selectable Frequency

Basically the KS3 is far smarter and gives you more information rather than flashing LEDs.

Videos might show it off better:

YouTube - Engine Tuning - Engine Knock Detection (1/3) - Phormula KS-3
YouTube - Engine Tuning - Knock Detection (2/3) - Phormula KS-3
YouTube - Engine Tuning - Knock Detection (3/3) - Knock Analyser Pro

KS4 takes the KS3 and adds data logging output.
