2.0 or 2.5 - Which one is best?
I am looking at buying my first Scooby and am hoping for some advice on which one to go for. I have decided that an 05 or 06 year WRX fits the budget but is it best to go for the 2 litre or the 2.5? Is there much difference (apart from the obvious 500 cc)!!
Any advice appreciated,
Steve

do you mean 2.5 as in the newer hawkeye shaped onwards impreza?
or the old 2.5 rs ones?
*edit* sorry i just noticed you did say 05 or 06.
i dont think theres any real difference. bit more torque maybe?
unless it was a weight thing.

Thanks for the help, I think I will probably hold out for the 2.5. Problem now is to find the right one that hasn't been too badly abused. When I find it I will post some pics on the site.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Drive both and see which suits your driving style. Best is an opinion and my best may not necessarily be best for youIf you want the Scooby burble , you will need to change back box on 2.5 I found it very quiet

I'd say to judge it on looks and price, what model do you like the look of most? and are the blobeye much cheaper than the hawkeye say on a 55reg, tbh there's not going to be alot of differance in the drive std or modded, but the 2.5 will give you more torque when you do tweek it

Just been to look at a 06 2.5 WRX. Exactly what I was looking for - Blue, less than 20k on the clock and immaculate. Only problem I have found is £400 a year road tax!!! What a rip-off! That's a bit steep for a car that is only going to be a weekend/nice weather toy. It's more than it costs for me to insure it.
Back to the drawing board I think and start looking for a 2.0 with a more sensible £210 a year tax.

i,ve said in previous threads the 400 plus road tax is going to kill the 2nd hand car market for cars that hit this bracket
I would rather tax a Porsche that a scooby at that price

It is only not such a problem if you get your monies worth by doing about 20,00 miles a year

It's only a matter of time until they bring the older cars into line with the road tax bands. Given the unpopularity, I would say post next general election.

Some people don't like the six speed box, too much choice for their little brains.... but tough as old boots, unlike a WRX box coping with the same level of torque.
