Default what car for the most fun?

just been thinking a lot about my next car since i dont own a scoob no more,..and dont quite have the money for a version 5 type r yet..and my mates are saying get something different and sort of sleepery and fun not necessarily fast like before.. such as a eg or ek civic with the k20 swap

am i doing the right thing and picking that? after having 3 scoobs?

what would you get?

other options could be e36 m3
bbr turbo tuned mx5
throttle bodied clio
turbo'd clio 172
supercharged type r ep3

what do you guys think? i want the most fun car.. both on road and track..

will i regret not going back to a scoob?

p,s, note. the only performance cars ive had are a clio 172 and 3 subarus lol

i prefer the version 5 cozz they rare and meaner front .. its not really the money , might look for one thats had an engine build..

Have you tried an Integra or Civic or Accord Type-R. Huge fun.

I really miss my accord

Few suggestions for you...

Mid-late 90's import Civic Type-r
Early 2000's import Civic Type-r
Late 90's Ibiza Cupra 16v

And I have to say it as they're so much fun to drive if you get a good 'un...

The mighty 205GTi, either a 1.9 or Mi16/GTi-6/Turbo conversion.

I'll get flamed for that, but for a cheaper car (anything between £750 and £3,000 depending on spec and mods), you'll struggle to have a better drivers car. Just they are older now (25th Anniversary soon) and dont have many creature comforts (mine has leccy windows, half leather seats and an alarm ).

there is a nice looking gtir in the forsale section. 312bph the advertise states. for over 2k i think.

+1 for the 205 gti

How about a 200sx? 200bhp, cheap enough for an s14a, solid tunable engines, good looking and fantastic owners club..?

You know what. im seriously considering selling my focus, using my scoob as a daily drive instead of track beast (cos i love the scoob), then possibly use this as a track beast!. will save me a few pennies getting the scoob up to super fast..

205GTI + MI16 + throttle bodies = much win

If its a case of can't afford to buy a V5 Type R but can afford to run it then maybe look at a GTIR - they are very cheap to buy but can very expensive to keep going so if money is an issue, a well sorted 205 will do the trick.

My all time 205 is a mint and standard looking sorrento green with a turbo technics conversion. MI is probably better but I have always wanted a turbo 205.

good calls, but im defo going save for a scoob, doesnt have to eb a type r , but ive got an idea of what sort of one am lookign for due to me wanting to make it a track car, so im very fussy.

as much as i want to buy one, it cant be bought before september, as im working all over the joint this year (12 month contract) and it'll just be parked up and driven once every 2weeks or so

tbh i think most scoobs will require some serious mods to make them track beasties. i would and did personally go for a sti. Not sure the type R is worth it. As you will probably want Ap's/coilovers anyway. So all tha tleaves is better look and DCCD?

Is there much or any difference in standard suspension on the sti compared to the type r?

yeah im not sure if its going to be a type r, that doesnt bother me

im after version 5/6 saloon sti (got to be sti, unless its a uk turbo, with better seats and exterior of sti)
with coilovers or the like , decent handling
along with good brakes! possibly 6 pots.
forged engine or 2.5 engine.. (not a major thing though)
jdm 6 speed.
enthusiast owned, and others cna vouch of the car..

going to be hard to find the one i want, have seen 2 that match this for sale this year.. all around 8k/9k mark, and im happy to pay that for the car, but only really going to be able to buy after september.

am sure you guys will notice when am ready because ill be getting your input on the cars lol 'garetgax's black scoob rings to mind, currently delayed sale of his car till after scooby shootout, might find myself lucky

Sorry i dont think i made my point well.

I meant. For a track car i dont really understand the markup on the type R. On the road there are improvements for sure. But as even these improvements are not really up to track use, you might as well save 3 grand and buy an STI, as the parts you are paying more for you are probably going to replace with the same aftermarket parts as you would the sti. i.e. cusco arbs, coilovers n AP/Ksport brakes etc etc.

I would personally only go for the STI for the stronger engine (im told). Also its good to have lots of power

9k would buy you a car far too nice for the track!

For me a 205t16 evo 2, but my 309 with 220 ponies was immense fun.

Pugs are a laugh but by the same token an unreliable pos.

they remind me of something Clarkson said about Alfas. Pugs are designed to be the most fun a car can be, briefly.

my 306 fell to pieces but boy did i have fun making it fall to pieces

rx7 fd3's are plenty of fun.. their light, well balanced and rear wheel drive pretty tunable.. can be a handful in the wet.. just like type r's.. their pretty cheap but get one thats had a rebuild or well before 60k
