Who owns a Japan Spec MY2001 STI ??
#1
Hi all, does anyone here own a MY2001 JPN spec STI.
Just curious as don't want to be alone and I would like a few email contacts to ask questions when mine arrived.
I am still searching for a few more responses on the whole 98 RON vs. 100 RON gas thing on JPN specs mapped for 100 RON.
Cheers,
Ray

I guess it shouldn't be a big problem, cos we can officially buy STi's over here in Hong Kong since 1997, and we don't have RON100 here either. Haven't heard of any engine problems here, despite the fact that we have over 90% humidity & 30+ degrees of heat during the long summer.

Hi guys,
Thanks for responding. I am happy to hear that I should be ok on 98 RON :-)
Also happy to hear that I have some experts on the JPN MY2001 STI :-)
So how do I get rid of the 112mph limator and what are some cheap (under $1,500 USD) mods I can do out the gates to increase torque ?
Cheers,
Ray
PS: Anything else I should know about my car that you want to share feel free to post it, thx again

Hi RT,
Well hopefully the gas issue will be resolved and then I can increase torque knowing my car will be safe. I will not do a single mod till I am 100% confident that I can either get the octane booster that is recomended at a good price (need to ship it to The Bahamas....will cost $$$$) or until I clarify that running on 98 RON will not do any damage.
Thanks again,
Ray

I also own a 2001 Japan Spec STi (Trinidad). I'm not sure what grade od unleaded fuel we get here, i'm sure it's a lot lower grade compared to you guys in the UK, moreso Japan. I got it less than a week ago and I filled up on our available unleaded. In no time I finished an entire tank and filled up again but added an STP Octane Booster. Guess what? I am getting better gas mileage and it feels like more power as well.
How do I get rid of the speed limitation and how do I set the rev limit?

Razor, did you get rid of the speed limited? If so how? I had a device installed on an Evo 4 i once owned. Don't know the name or brand. Let me know how to get rid of that speed cut.

I think that Rays is the only STi in the Bahamas. Beleive I saw it driving around Nassau when I was out there in June. Doesn't half stand out amongst all the old battered Jap and Yank models dodging around the streets!!
Random, I know, but I thought I'd drop it in anyhow!
