Hi Mate,

THere are a lot of special edition scoobies out there. The key is that you try and get your hands on one that has been properly looked after and will hold its value.

I have a tidy Type R for sale and it will leave you with £2.5k change as well

Its the jap version of the P1, have a look at the pics and the link

Subaru : Low mileage V4 Type R

I would imagine that for £10k you could get your hands on a P1 or Type R territory. I think WR1 may stretch you a little bitas i think they are still going for about £13k upwards but then again it is a buyers market!

Good luck with whatever scoob you get they are amazing cars

How good are the Hawkeye STI, with the 2.5 engine? How far can you go with modding before you require pistons and rods??

I have a feeling, and I might be corrected here, that you can get them to about 400bhp before you need to start with the rods etc.
If you call Rich at RRH he will know or call James at GRD
:: GRD - Greenwood Racing Developments ::
they will let you know all the options.

ahh 400bhp is more than enough, think i might just splash the cash for a 2.5 Hawkeye the Is there any difference between the sti and wrx engines??

Thanks for the info

As said 400bhp but not many owners go over 360-370 to remain on the safe side. You will get 390+ LbFt of torque at the level of tune as well on the 2.5 engine which for road driving is the usable bit.

You will struggle to get a good Hawkeye STI for £10k though, even in the current climate. They are available at that price but they are the high milers and damaged repaired usually.

So what is required to reach 360-370 BHP, I could push the boat out a bit to get a good Hawkeye

On an STI, not much. An exhaust and a remap mainly. See here: AndyForrestPerformance

On a WRX a bit more is required: AndyForrestPerformance

My car made 360/390 with plugs, fuel pump, decat and remap: https://www.scoobynet.com/scooby.php?profileid=1080

Yes, but not in electronic format, sorry. I'm sure some others will be along to post theirs. The sort of power quoted is quite standard for a remapped 2.5 STI.

I reckon you'll only need an extra £3-4k to get a mint one. You'd get a WRX on your budget but you will spend £££s to get it to the power levels you are talking about and even then you will be missing the Brembo brakes, DCCD and 6 speed gear box.

To be honest that looks a really good buy doesn't break the bank and is a good base for further mods.

with the 2.5's you can extract good usable performance with very few modifications
