Hello guys and gurls

Im looking at treating myself sometime in the next few months, and ive always wanted to do a track day.

I think the P1 deserves it!

Does anyone have any ideas for the best track to use for my first ever track day, good run off if god forbid the worst happens.

RAF Marham with the Supra boys when they do it again looks good, but loads of stone chips after that!

Any good companys to go through etc

donnie is a great track and not bumpy so the suspension wot take a pounding not like on raf tracks as the tarmac is so hard for planes etc and like you say full of debrey,
think your better of doing a well known track due to better organisation and good marshalls,

I'd agree with that but they are really hot on noise, a standard Prodive catted exhaust system and Standard induction is fine

But stray from that and it will get tight on Driveby readings,
No cat and Induction kit you may pass static but not the driveby. They will test the car midweek at no cost if your in doubt.

Best advice is "If you drive it there you'll want to drive it home" so take it easy and enjoy

Elvington won't be too far from Lincs. wherever you go do an airfield first so you have loads of room. Airfields tend to be concrete and do cause a fair amount of tyre wear. When you're comfortable then you can try a proper track, Cadwell must be near you but be warned it is tight and challenging.

I intend to do Elvington 18th April (Javelin) if you want a bit of company/chat/passenger rides. Come with a full tank, my Scoob only does 6mpg at Elvington, with a lighter car you may do a little better but it will still be in single figures.

correct me if im wrong i was always told that if your gonna do a track day top up the oil slightly as with the added swishing about the track stops the oil from being starved at the bottom of the engine.

I've never had issues with a Scoob in 8years on track, Possibly due to the flat four set up rather than an inline engine.

It may be correct on some Traverse/ Inline engine configerations

Although constant 1.3g corning (slicks) in Scoobs G forces can retain the oil in either rocker covers instead of gravity returning it to the sump ( race scoobs have an Oil catch tank piped from heads)

Most of us will experience on tight R/hand bends Fuel stavation due to low fuel in tank level, more so in Classics but still happens in my Newage at brands

Motorsport vision are doing some trackday taster sessions at Cadwell next month. They charge £25 for 20mins which means you don't have to commit to a full day but you get all the safety briefings, sighting laps, etc. I did a session before christmas (in the pouring rain) and it was good.

I have done a few airfield days in other cars (look out in the WYIOC forum for their days at Blyton near Gainsborough) and one airfield day in the impreza but did find cadwell quite demanding (especially in the wet) so probably best to get some practice in elsewhere first (not alot of run-off space at cadwell if you mess it up)

Bedford looks to be the best track for novices due to its large run-offs (im off in may, £119 for the day with focusedevents)

It is free to spectate at cadwell trackdays so if you have never been its best going to have a look, as said above there is one on sunday.

P.S. Blyton is "allegedly" lost as a venue, the rallycross boys aren't going this year, due to tenancy problems.
