what car wrx service costs unbelieveable
#1
Reading through this months What Car I noticed in the new car specification pages the subaru wrx 3yr/36000miles service costs were a staggering £2400.is this a miss print? I thought subaru servicing was expensive but surely not that bad. On further investigation I found the forester turbo s to be £1400 which isn't too bad.
I then decided to check other manufacturers costs to compare (anorak on) even a mercedes 600 slk was less than £2000.
And a porsche 911 turbo was £2500.
I think maybe they got it wrong.
any comments

My initial 7500 miles service was £108. On my last Scooby i found that intermediate services were about £120, and the full ones about £400 ish, and a little more once u get the timing belt in there.
With intervals now at 1 year/10 k miles the approx costs should be about:-
10K/1 year - £120 ish
20k/2 year - £350 ish
30k/3 year - £400 ish
Unless Subaru have changed the workscope on the services, since they upped from 7500 to 10000 miles between services. Even at 7500 miles, and including discs/pads I cant see how they came up with £2400.

I think services average out at about £250 each up to that mileage.
WRX now has 10K service intervals - so that's £750.
You're going to need at probably two sets of replcement tyres in that mileage, so that's another £800.
Battery and exhausts are the other things that they include, but I can't see either of these going in 3 years.
So that gives a total of £1550. But if they calculated on the old 7.5K service intervals, that would go up by about £250.
Still some way off £2400 though.....
Cheers

18,000 from a set of tyres I was on my third set when I sold my car (13,500 miles)
I would have easily exceeded £2,500 just on tyres in 36,000 miles.
Even my previous car (Saxo VTR) would have cost me more than £2.5k in 3 years between tyres, servicing & consumables. (it after 2 years (24k miles): 3 sets front tyres, 1 set rear tyres & 1 replacement for puncture (@ 150 a corner) £1350, new brakes (disc & pads) all round £350(+), servicing £350(+), replace bearing £150, 3 x excess to replace winmdscreen £150 and those are just what I can remember off hand = £2,350) with another year to go at least it would do 40mpg

My last saxo for a year broke down like this
12K service = £127, 4 new tyres (one need replacing due to bubble forming on it) @ £90 (citroen prices) 2 new brake pads = £108!!
Total after just over 12K (9 months old) £595 just for one year!
After 3 years £1500+

What -hmmm lets think about that...
36000 miles
My car service at 1000 miles £100
Service at 7500 miles £100
Servive at 15000 £100
Change tyres at 18000 miles £340
Change Front Brakes at 19000 miles -£120
Sevice 22500 £100
Service 30000 -(£300) sparks, oils, fule filter, gearbox/diff oils, etc!)
Sercive say at 36000 £100
£1260
Add an extra sat £500 for rip off main dealers = £1760
£2500 - well I suppose you get ripped off on anticorrosion and other servicing costs that thye dont even do........ £2500
possible but highly unlikely!!
That gives a total of
