The search function is useless

The search function is useless
Wanting to find some information on replacing the fuel pressure regulator on my car I started a search. In the keyword(s) window I put < MY00 fuel pressure regulator > .
And...............
What I ended up with was any thread containing the word "fuel" OR "pressure" OR "regulator" OR "MY00" OR any combination of the preceding.
I remember this feature being somewhat more useful previously.
Or is my memory playing tricks on me?
Kevin

Nope, it's still crap.
I've looked for:
"fitting a newage steering wheel into a classic"
"fitting a newage steering wheel classic"
"fitting newage steering wheel classic"
"newage steering wheel classic"
and the search results are a big fat zero. Come on guys sort this out please.

Search engines (including Google) will always search using the logical term Or between words, e.g a search for Subaru Impreza will return all documents containing the words Subaru or Impreza the search engine will then display the results in order of relevance, e.g those containing both words at the top.
If you use speech marks " around words you limit the results e.g. "Subaru Impreza" will return all documents containing the word Subaru followed by the word Impreza.
I am assuming the Scoobynet search works in this manner.
Further to this you should be able to use the - symbol to set a word you do not want to be in the results.

so unless you know this, its pretty much no good to you what a handy search function we have, which might i add used to be great for finding old threads/info.

If you don't know about boolean searches I think there's info here

Oh, and I believe that most internet search engines are based on or very close to the logic described by BlueBugEye. Google definitely works under the same logic.

Did a search on "JAE 2008" and came back with this https://www.scoobynet.com/track-days...92745-jae.html so not restricted to 2009
Sounds like there may be a fair bit of user error/ignorance going on but I do agree that it's slow as cats **** on here and a bit of a pain to the end users in general.

Guys - Please read the sticky at the top of the forum which explains how to use the search function in its current form. Thanks.
