Hi all,

After just having conformation of selling my golf gti, i am now in a position to buy my first Impreza Turbo within the next month or so.

My ideal car is a UK spec MY99 (or later) saloon and was just wondering if there are any common problems that i should be looking out for?

Also, does anybody know of an Impreza specialist in the Bedfordshire area that could take a look at the car, or is an RAC inspection adequate?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Will post soon in the "Wanted" forum for car.

Thanks,

Nick.

P.S. Can Subaru UK tell the origin of any car from its VIN number, i.e UK or european delivery?

Dont be put off by a euro import, if you are looking at 99 my the waranty will almost be up anyway. it will probably be a shade cheaper, possibly loads cheaper, depending on the seller. do look out for clutch judder,if the car has been warmed up make sure you take it into slow traffic,it will probably show up then.you can live with it but it is more anoying than anything(and £500 to put right) apart from that there is not much to go wrong, just the usual hpi, datacheck stuff, and walk away from anything that puffs blue smoke.
regards
Dave
Ps if you do see anything you like more often than not someone on here will now somthing about the car,and most impreza drivers look after them anyway even if they do drive them hard

Look out for the gear box too. My mate imported one of the last old shape and had to have the gear box done under warranty, mind you he did drive like and absolute ****, everywhere.
