Default Does anyone know this Impreza?

I've seen a green UK Scoob on Pistonheads for sale. Basically going cheapish due to mileage (not o.t.t) and a couple of body blemishes. Anywho, the guy selling would like a 205GTi, so out of interest I sent an email to entertain his wishes. Had some correspondances from his mate (dunno if the seller has internet access but his mate seems legit enough and actually writes using grammar and punctuation!).

We've exchanged a few details and he seems keen for a straight swap deal. Just waiting on more detailed info. like service history, mot/tax etc etc before I consider travelling to Weatherby (meet half way) to look at each others cars.

Does anyone know anything or indeed the owner of the Scoob? It does seem quite legit and after weighing up costs, won't cost much more than the Pug to run. (Just to add the above isn't a justification, I am genuienly looking for information on this car).

Cheers

Andy

There appear to be dents all down that side of the car. Is that the best side that they chose for the photographs? The front lip isn't UK and the headlight cluster is all wonky.

In conclusion, it looks a bit crap.

Thanks for th input gents. Billy, I've been sent the high res versions of the pics, and admittedly it does have bodywork blemishes. But so does my Peugeot, and that runs spot on. I can handle blemishes etc, as these can be an on going "project" to sort. What I'd like to see if I go view the car is a strong engine and drive train.

Cheers lads.

it does look a bit scruffy, and really its not likely you will be able to tell if it has a strong engine and drivetrain on the basis of having a look and maybe a run in it when you meet the guy, so many scoobs get sold/ swapped in deals like this only to break very quickly after

don't talk yourself into the deal i suppose is what i'm trying to say, all too easy with these cars

Totally understand what you're saying fella.

Luckily I have a mate off here (Bullitt Rich of WYIOC fame), who is a pretty decent mechanic and would come with to view the car. Certainly not talking myself into a deal, and the emails have been 1/2 daily so not desperation on my part. It seems a good deal, but I'm certainly not naive enough to assume the car is 100% legit on that basis alone.

Thanks for the input fella
