Default Larger capacity engines and the DVLA

Hi,

For all those of you who have increased the capacity of you engines ... did you have to notify the DVLA in any way of the change?
I assume they would want to know that the engine capacity had increased and the serial number of the new engine.
Does this effect your CO2 rating in any way?
Anything else to be aware of?

Thanks
Richard

Depends on the age of the car if you're talking about road taxation.

As for V5 info and insurance it's obviously a no brainer

Cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 (based on fuel type and CO2 emissions)

The rates shown only apply to cars that have been type approved in category M1 and registered on the basis of CO2 emissions measured in grams per kilometre (g/km) driven. These details are shown on the Registration Certificate.
Petrol car (TC48) and diesel car (TC49)
Band
CO2 emission (g/km)
Over 185
£210.00
£115.50

G
Over 225 – for cars registered on or after 23/03/06
£400.00
£220.00

Looks like you've got a blanket £210 per year for anything over 185

Thanks, that's good to hear. I just wasn't sure there were any special requirements or extra checks when you changed the engine capacity.
