Good point made by member on this BBS.
We just have to put our rose tinted specs and think about Tiff preferring the STi VII on Top Gear.
Ooooooooooooooohh bet i get slagged off now by the self righteous brigade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All those mods and the Scoob still caught up with the saxo before the evo... shows that the evo needs much more mods to get it up to the superior standard of the impreza STi type UK doesnt it :P

I would like to see Jason Plato drive each of the following around the same track for 5 timed laps and take an average of the 5 to see the real differences:
1. STi 7 Type UK
2. P1
3. 22b
4. MYO1/02 WRX
5. MY00 Turbo
6. Evo 5
7. Evo 6
8. Evo 7
9. Evo 5/6 RS450
Logic tells you to go with the RS450 but maybe too much power at 450bhp. Would be interesting and Id pay good money for the video/DVD.
Simon.

And that proves precisely what????????
Absolutely nothing about the cars thats for sure. That Drivens comparative tests are rubbish? Yep, but we knew that before they wheeled out a Scoob. They NEVER run comparable cars. What did they take to the Monte, a Mini an MGB and an Alpha I think.
That it caters for the lowest common denominator, yep.
Production is crap and their presenters no better, yep. Except Plato
Their random selection of testers are dorks, yep.
(Except the the foxy black lady who loved scoobs.)
I frankly dont give a monkeys if some idiot on TV, in the Street, in an Evo or an RS thinks my cars crap. It fine for me as it would be if it was a Vitara or a Nova.
So why watch this crap? Cos it's the "best" were offered
Get upset about the content not the conclusion.

Autocars' car is M7GSR, can anyone confirm this was the car featured on driven? Can't tell from the 4car website.
BTW if it was it has a Ralliart stage 1 fast road conversion plus some suspension mods. EVO tested the same car but were honest enough to say 'This Ralliart supplied car had a few tweaks - lowered and stiffened suspension, freer-flowing backbox, air filter, etc, and felt rather more potent than the standard 276bhp'
I reckon that made the EVO they tested around £35K, about £10K more expensive than the STi. My wife watched the program and commented that the EVO seemed to handle better and be a bit quicker. For this price I would hope so to!
I'm not particularly of the EVO or STi camp, I happen to drive an Impreza now, it might be an EVO or something else next time. I just don't like journo's getting away with this and intend to complain to Channel 4
I think that they should apologise and do a fairer test - either straight fight between EVO and STi - or the modded EVO against a STi plus £10K's worth of go faster bits
