Question

Hi,

I have an MY00 and have been considering the new STi, however I face a two grand difference between my finance settlement and the trade in value of the car (dealer offering no discounts), should I use this money to fit PPP to my MY00 or is the STi worth the loss ?

You have to drive it and make up your own mind. However don't forget that over the next 2 years you will lose alot more on a new STI than you will on your current car.
MY00 value today = £13k? in 2 years with PPP = £9k? =£5.5k loss(including paying out £1.5k for a PPP today)
STI Today = £26k, in 2 years = £17k? = £9k loss. Plus you'll pay more for insurance and finance on the bigger loan if you take one.
So book a test drive of a MY00 PPP and an STI and see if you can justify the cost.

Same thoughts as Chuckster....

Really its down to if you like the STI enough to pay that much more. I think it is fair to say that to get a MY00 anywhere near an STI is not just about power increases, but also handling and braking. That would cost more than £2K.

For me with a MY00, I'm going for upgrades not trade in

Or get the STi, and then upgrade with the PPP in a few months time (when it becomes available). Sure it costs more than the MY00, but you'll have a faster car at the end of it. Just depends on what you want and the size of your wallet really

Or just wait 5-6 months until STi's hit the 2nd hand market with low mileage and few k off.
